Where is Coatings Care® Now?

The Coatings Care Industry Stewardship Coordinating (CCISC)
Committee continues to reach out to paint and printing ink trade associations interested
in participating in the Coatings Care® program. Most recently, representatives from the
Peruvian Chamber of Commerce, Philippine Association of Paint Manufactures (PAPM), the
Brazilian Paint and Coatings Association (ABRAFATI), and the Portuguese Paint and Coatings
Association have begun to explore the adoption of Coatings Care®. While participation in
the International Paint and Printing Ink Council (IPPIC) currently is organized by
delegations (Americas, Europe/Africa, and Asia/Pacific) any association that pledges to
implement Coatings Care® is eligible to join and participate in CCISC Committee.
The CCISC Committee was formed by the International Paint and
Printing Ink Council (IPPIC) to enable paint and printing ink manufacturers to share
information regarding industry stewardship programs and the advancement of Coatings Care®
worldwide. The CCISC today has members from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, Japan,
Mexico, United States, and now The Philippines. All members of the group give updates of
the implementation of the program and have discussion on benefits or difficulties with the
program within their countries. Participants are expected to have a clear approach and
structured strategy to promote the Coatings Care® program, including communication,
education and outreach efforts to involve individual member companies. The CCISC group
meets twice a year to discuss Coatings Care® initiatives, develop resources and further
the implementation process.
Meeting agendas include discussions on expansion of Coatings
Care® participation, coordinating activities with the chemical manufacturing industry and
the Responsible Care®, addressing site and transport security issues around the world,
and other new emerging health, safety and environmental issues that Coatings Care®
covers.
